Eyl, Puntland

The city of Eyl is affected by high levels of youth unemployment and opportunities among pirates groups. This project aims at fostering youth employment in the fisheries sector, supporting an increase in production, trade and consumption of fish products, improving in the end food security in the area. Activities include rehabilitation of roads, creation of a professional high school for fisheries, acquisition of a refrigerated truck and distribution of tools and other equipment for fisheries commercial activities. The project is coherent with Italian Development Cooperation Guidelines 2014-2016 for new employment opportunities and reduction of social inequality and it is aligned to the New Deal for Somalia (PSG 4, Priority 2). read more close
