Sahel Region (Provinces of Oudalan, Breast and Soum)
The initiative of emergency is based on three main areas: food security, social protection and health and is addressed to the people of the Sahel Region (provinces: Oudalan, Breast and Soum). This Region has been severely affected by the drought of 2012 that led to a worsening of the already precarious living conditions of the populations. The project has intervened directly helping 516 families, lacking the necessities of life, and indirectly thousands of families who have improved their lives. These families have been helped both by providing the necessary (tools and seeds) to grow, both by providing a small amount of animals (sheep or goats) to replenish their livestock. Were also processed 470 ha of pastures depleted and they were made or refurbished twenty wells for water. In health sector, more than 1,000 meetings with women have been organized to fight children malnutrition, childhood enriched flour and milk were distributed to infants and 12 consulting rooms of villages were made more operational. read more close
