This trilateral initiative aims at reducing the incidence of fires within coastal and Andean regions of Ecuador, enhancing practices alternatives to the use of fire and therefore contributing to general environmental protection and to improvement of the quality of life of the resident communities. read more close
By supporting the local Ministry of Environment the project purpose is to improve efficiency and effectiveness of State capacities in implementing the proper methodologies to tackle and contain agricultural fires in the area of intervention, focusing on two key issues such as prevention and control.

The program will work at national level in two natural regions that cover 11 Provinces and 52 Cantons in the zones of bigger incidence of forest fires. According to the national census realized in 2010, (INEC http://www.inec.gob.ec/cpv/) the Provinces and the interested Cantons have 7.781.450 inhabitants.
