Ca Mau city is a lately established urban area, located in the extreme South of Vietnam. Economic development and population growth led to a very fast urbanization, while essential infrastructures - such as roads, water supply, drainage, waste water treatment systems as well as solid waste collection and disposal systems - still lag far behind and do not meet the urban development needs. As a result, the urban aesthetics and living environment are seriously deteriorated, with solid waste and waste water affecting adversely citizens’ life and health. The "Ca Mau Sanitation and Water Supply Project" was proposed to overcome these issues. Main activities of the project include rehabilitation of the existing drainage system, construction of a waste water collection system and of a waste water treatment plant for the city. The project is managed by the Provincial People's Committee of Ca Mau through the Project Management Unit managed by the Ca Mau Water Supply, Sewerage and Urban Works Company. It is planned to be implemented over 5 years. The project benefits of the technical assistance provided through the local fund with DGCS ID number 9906, established in 2012 as a unified local fund to cover the costs of local staff in support of all Italian-funded water projects in Vietnam. read more close
