Description

The “Program for the Renovation of Shkoder-Hani I Hotit Road” and the Program “Construction of the Lushnje-Fier road and supervision of the works for the two adjacent stretches Lushnje to Fier and Fier to Vlore” are part of the same initiative called “Support to the Road Sector Program”. The “Program for the Renovation of Shkoder-Hani I Hotit Road” foresees the the upgrading of the road section that leads from Shkodra to the town of Hani I Hotit at the border with Montenegro. The road section is about 40 km long, of which 34 km are suburban and 5.5 within the urban area of Shkodra. The section Shkoder-Hani Hotit, along the main North –South direction, is an integral part of the Balkans’ Strategic Transport Network. The Program “Construction of the Lushnje-Fier road and supervision of the works for the two adjacent stretches Lushnje to Fier and Fier to Vlore” aims at improving the viability of the Lushnje-Fier-Vlore road section according to design criteria in line with European standards, promoting exchanges of people and goods both within the Country and with neighboring countries, in line with the regional priorities, which consider the Lushje-Fier-Vlore road section integral part of the Pan-European Corridor VIII. The implementation of the program involves construction activities and works supervision, which aim at decreasing the travel times, adapt the Lushnje-Fier-Vlore road section to the needs of present and future traffic flows and ensure greater levels of road safety. The Albanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructures - MTI is responsible of the Programs with the assistance of the Italian Development Cooperation.
